Modelling Plaster

Use: Modelling Plaster (2510) is a top coat plaster that is designed for both internal and external use. It is suitable for use on surfaces that are sound and absorbent. Modelling plaster forms an exellent base for colourwashing on internal surfaces.

Properties: Modelling Plaster comes in powder form to which water is added to make a light plaster. It is refined with casein and has an even distribution of very fine granules so that a broad range of structures/textures can be achieved. It is water repellent and will withstand torrential rain.

Colour: White

Sizes: 25kg bag

Coverage: When applied 1mm thick, approximately 0.5 square metres per kg

Preparation: All unstable (flaking or peeling) paint surfaces, especially water-soluble distempers, must be removed with wet & dry medium grade sandpaper or washed off before applying Modelling Plaster.

Gloss, varnish or oil based paints are not suitable surfaces for Modelling Plaster.

To anvoid the plaster drying out too quickly, all highly absorbent surfaces should be damped down prior to application and primed with a coar of Silicate Primer (2570) or Casein Binder (2550) or a thinned coat of Modelling Plaster.

Note: Never add fillers containing oil to Modelling Plaster

Application: Do not use if the working temperature is below 50C.

Add 6 to 7,5litres water to 25kg Modelling Plaster and mix to a thick paste. Mix well using an electric drill whisk attachment or ideally a professional plaster-mixing machine.

Once mixed the Modelling Plaster must be used immediately.

Apply using rustproof tools, smoothing off to an even finnish. Once the plaster has taken, smooth off vigorously. For difficult areas, use jute scrim in the first coat of Modelling Plaster to avoid cracking.

Note: Modelling Plaster is transparent when wet but dries to white finish.

Colouring: Modelling Plaster can be tinted using Sehestedt´s Pigments (1001...).Never use oil or artists´colours or commercial tinters. Use no more than 150g of pigment with 1kg of Modelling Plaster. Soak pigment in enough water to cover the powder, preferably overnight, and mix well to create a liquid paste. Pour into ready mixed modelling plaster and stir with a whisk until completely blended.

Drying Time: Depending on the temperature and the relative humidity, touch dry after approximately 1 hour but allow 6 hours drying time between coats. Modelling Plaster will reach its optimum strength after 2 month.

Cleaning: Wash tools with warm water. Wash hands using Hand cleaner (3063), if required.

Storage: Keep container sealing and store in a cool, dry and frost-free place. Shelf Life is unlimited in powder form in unopened containers.

Ingredients: Powdered marble, marble, lime, chalk, quartz powder, cellulose, clay, white cement and casein.
